ONE CHURCH | ONE FAMILY | ONE CHILD

When ONE church prepares ONE family to impact the life of ONE child through family preservation or foster care, the entire community has the opportunity to experience God’s promise to set the lonely in families. (Psalm 68:6).

Rooted in La Promesa Honduras’ strong belief that children belong in safe homes with loving families, the 1-1-1 Initiative aims to equip the local Honduran church to respond to the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children and at-risk families.

Recognizing that a continuum of family-based care solutions leads to the best outcomes for children, La Promesa Honduras works closely with church leadership to increase awareness of the needs of vulnerable children and at-risk families and the opportunities for biblical response by the church body. Churches are provided with competent and compassionate professional support as they step forward and say “yes” to family preservation and foster care.

LPH assists the church in identifying prospective foster parents and community of care volunteers and ensures that families are well-prepared and trained for the joys and challenges they will experience while fostering.  Community of care volunteers are equipped to provide appropriate and encouraging support to children and their foster families.

When a child is placed with a family in the church, La Promesa Honduras’ work has only just begun.  LPH staff meets with the family, church leaders and community of care volunteers on an ongoing basis to discuss challenges and solutions. Professional counseling and support services by LPH staff are available to every child, their family members, and their foster family.

INTRODUCING THE ‘PROMISE BOUTIQUE’

A key pillar of the 1-1-1 Initiative in support of the disability and family-based care communities is the Promise Boutique, which will open its doors in the spring of 2020, providing eligible children from those groups with the opportunity to receive free clothing, shoes, toys, books, baby items, and school supplies that are either new or in excellent condition.

Many children who experience separation from their families experience intense stress and struggle to adjust.  The Promise Boutique aims to relieve some of the anxiety and uncertainty during this transition by providing a personalized shopping experience for the child to choose from an array of items.

The Boutique also caters to children with disabilities, who may have unique needs when it comes to clothing, shoes, and other items, making it difficult for them to shop in standard stores.

Families receive vouchers based on a needs assessment and are served by appointment to ensure each child gets special attention.

Support the Promise Boutique by donating items

The Promise Boutique relies on donations from domestic and global partners to keep it fully stocked with merchandise in new or excellent condition in support of the disability and foster communities.  We welcome donated items from both individual and groups, who are encouraged to organize donation item drives through their church, school, or organization.

Support the Promise Boutique by giving a financial gift

With recurring inventory items such as baby formula and diapers often needing to be replenished more often than donations can keep up, please consider becoming a Promise Boutique donor.  All donations are tax-deductible.
