La Promesa Honduras was founded in 2018 by Tamara Robinson and Christy Owen when their two families teamed up in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. More than 20 years ago God opened Tamara’s eyes to the number of vulnerable children in her community who were without the love and nurture of a family, while at the same time the Deaf community captured Christy’s heart as God redirected her path into international ministry. Since that time, Tamara and Christy have followed God’s leading in their lives and pursued big dreams, gaining along the way valuable education, vast experience, and extensive professional training that have prepared them to serve.

Tamara serves as President of La Promesa Honduras. She has been a foster and adoptive mom since 2000 and is a licensed social worker and psychotherapist, specializing in trauma-competent care and issues related to child welfare, foster care, and adoption. Tamara brings high standards and valuable training and leadership to related programs within LPH. Christy serves as Vice-President of La Promesa Honduras. She is a foster and adoptive mom and missionary within the Deaf community of Honduras, where she has served since 1999. Christy brings to LPH’s programs her expertise in rehabilitative counseling, support services for those with disabilities, and her work in Deaf ministry helping to establish a school and church within the Deaf community.

In April 2021, Tamara and Christy welcomed a staff of Honduran professionals, a social worker and two psychologists forming LPH’s Family Services Team. The team is dedicated to transforming lives and making a difference in the lives of vulnerable people and has allowed LPH to expand its outreach and continue developing services that promote the wellbeing of children and strengthen families and communities.
